UTILITIES - PING/TRACE ROUTE
The Ping utility sends ICMP echo request packets to another node on the
network. You can use the Ping utility to check that a remote node is active,
what the round-trip time is for communications, and if there is any packet
loss on the link.

The Trace Route utility shows the route packets take to reach the specified
destination. A trace terminates when the destination responds, when the
maximum timeout (TTL) is exceeded, or the maximum number of hops is
exceeded.
