8 NOTIFICATIONS

The Notifications wizard allows you to keep track of certain events that

occur in NMS and in your network. You can individually or simultaneously

schedule to run different tasks (that is, send traps to other management

stations, send emails, block ports, or run other useful actions) whenever

the defined event-related criteria is met.

On the menu bar select Tools > Notifications and the Notifications and

Schedulers dialog box will appear.

The Notification feature has three functions:

◆ Scheduler Notification Rules — Where you set the rules which will

be the basis of the threshold.

◆ Task Recurrence — Gives you an option to select when the

notification should take effect.

◆ Actions Scheduled — Displays the different actions that you can

choose to run whenever a notification rule is triggered. The types of

actions are send mail, send trap, block ports, run commands, execute

programs etc.
